Children need to improve their eating habits more than adults. Proper nutrition is vital for children from their early age. When the point is development of children’s brain then proper diet is an important aspect. Children continuously learn new things and it makes their brain to work overtime. Following components are vital to have if you want brain of your children develop well:

 

Glucose

Glucose affects directly the level of blood sugar and is major source of energy for children. It also improves attention span in children. Good breakfast which included enough glucose is very important for children for physically demanding day. Trace your ward that he or she doesn’t skin his or her breakfast as it can lead to many problems such as low remembering power and weak attention span.

 

Iron

Iron is very important to transport oxygen to several parts of human body. If required amount of iron is not provided to children then he or she may develop anemia. Lower level of iron in children can also negatively affect attention span. There are chances that he or she may loose his or her interest in activities that need skill, imagination and ability. Legumes, red meat, tuna, chicken and broccoli are good sources of iron.

Vitamins for children

 

Vitamin A and B

Both of these vitamins play distinguish roles in growing up of children. Vitamin A is required in children for the development of brain. It can be found in dark leafy vegetables and most citrus fruits. Vitamin B is essential to utilize the energy derived from glucose. Lack of vitamin B in children can result in depression and aggression in them. Vitamin B is further divided into several forms and 1 single source cannot provide all forms of vitamin B together. However, most vitamin B forms can found in cereals.

 

Folic Acid

It aids the production of red blood cells and white blood cells in children’s body. If required amount of folic acid is not provided in child’s diet then he or she may complaint of being irritable, forgetful or lethargic. You can find folic acid in most of the fresh vegetables and fruits.

 

Zinc

The amount of zinc taken by child in his or her diet affects the communication of nervous system. A child can suffer from difficulty in solving simple questions, if he or she is not receiving appropriate amount of zinc. In medical terms, this problem is known as cognitive impairment.

 

Significance of Balanced nutrition in children

A child can be physically and mentally healthy only if he or she gets right nutrition in their diet. Parents can use food pyramids for proper dietary plan for their wards. Food pyramid is geometrical representation of food items that are essential for children as well as adults to take daily in their meal. It also represents those food items which should be avoided. All grains are at the bottom of food pyramid. After that at 2nd level there is fruits and vegetable and then at 3rd level dairy products and meat items lies. Top of the food pyramid includes those food items which should be excluded from child diet plan. It is a good way to design daily diet plan.
